    Falkland Islands government launches long-term vision for the housing system

    Today, the Falkland Islands Government is pleased to launch its new strategy to address prevailing pressures across the housing system and identify opportunities for improvement. Housing for our Future outlines a long-term vision for housing in the Falkland Islands and sets the direction for housing-related policies over a 10-year period, as we work towards delivering affordable, good quality and appropriate rental and ownership options for the whole of the Falkland Islands community.

    Falklands' government awards contract for improvement of Stanley airport terminal

    The Falkland Islands Government has informed that after a competitive tender, the contract for the construction of a new terminal entrance at Stanley Airport has been awarded to Falkland Building Services (FBS), a subsidiary of the Falkland Islands Company (FIC). Materials for the work should arrive in Stanley in early September 2021 and construction will then begin.

    Falklands' lack of tradespeople affecting housing and public works programs

    Falklands' puts in practice trainee program to prepare next generation leaders

    The Falkland Islands Government welcomed on Tuesday Shannon Alazia and Ariane Brownlee as its first two management trainees for a two-year initiative aimed at identifying and supporting the next generation of leaders across government. This new program is designed to provide a consistent approach to job training and study through a two-year schedule of activities to prepare participants for future supervisory and management roles.

    Falklands announce COVID-19 relief donation for Uruguayan charity

    CEPRODIH is a non profit association which assists vulnerable people in situations where they are at risk of harm, particularly women and children

    The Falkland Islands Government has confirmed that, as part of its efforts to contribute to the worldwide Coronavirus relief response, it has made a donation of £5,000 to Centro de Promoción por la Dignidad Humana (CEPRODIH), based in Uruguay.

    Falklands' new port works scheduled to begin at the end of the month

    British contractor BAM Nuttall is set to start work at the end of this month on a new port for the Falklands Islands. The existing facilities will be replaced. BAM Nuttall was chosen by the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) in February to carry out the design and build contract for the new port. The contract was signed in early April but was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

    The Falkland Islands Government announced on Monday that it has completed and signed a contract with BAM Nuttall for the design and build of a new port in Stanley Harbor.

    Falkland Islands announces partner to develop new port

     FIG Chief Executive Barry Rowland said a new port is an indispensable asset to support the economy and enable ongoing future economic growth in the Falklands

    The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) announced on Thursday it has selected a development partner to design and build a new port in Stanley Harbour. After an extensive global procurement process, FIG is pleased to announce that it has agreed to BAM Nuttall Ltd as its development partner, subject to successful conclusion of contract. The aim is for the contract to be agreed and signed by the end of March 2020.
