Electric horizontal vertical takeoff and landing vehicles with room for up to five people are to be manufactured by Ever Air Mobility's plant 145 kilometers from the city of São Paulo, Embraer announced. The first deliveries of the so-called “flying cars” are due in 2026.

Embraer, the third-largest aircraft builder worldwide is switching to electric horizontal take-off and landing (eVTOL) units through its subsidiary Ever Air Mobility (Eve), which has a plant in Taubaté, one of the districts of the Brazilian aerospace park. Headquartered in the US state of Florida, Eve is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and Embraer holds 82% of the share package.

Eve's CEO André Stein explained that the company's goal is to have production efficiency. A “new assembly line is sending projects to prioritize safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and sustainability,” he said.

For Embraer's president and CEO, Francisco Gomes Neto, there is “enormous potential in the global Urban Air Mobility market.”

Embraer is a private company whose Defense sector is owned by the Ministry of Defense of the Brazilian Government.

The governments of former presidents Michel Temer and Jair Bolsonaro authorized the sale of Embraer to the American Boeing, which went back on its steps due to financial problems.

The projected flying car is 100% electric, battery-powered, and initially capable of carrying four passengers in addition to the pilot, for a distance of up to 100 kilometers.

The company is already marketing these units still under development. The first deliveries are expected in 2026.
