Falklands have the highest rate of network use in the world, says IMI
According to a report released by the Internet Market Institute, the highest rate of network use in the world is in the Falkland Islands. Taiwan ranked number 35 on the list and was number 5 in Asia, reports the Taiwan News. Read full article

If you lived in the Falklands or had any decent knowledge of the place, you would know that pretty much everyone is unhappy with Cable and Wireless and their abuse of their monopoly position. And no one is afraid to voice it.

Hmmm……
1) I have been to small islands in the world where I know that Internet Penetration is very close to 100%
2) I also know for a fact that quite a few households in Malvinas are not connected to the Internet. (As Viscount says, it’s scandalously expensive and the Islanders are not exactly known as ”Big Spenders” :-)
3) Something smells cheesy here and it ain’t my socks.

Their must be an easier way to get on line, rather than use this other company, you use,, just a thought .
You may be right Think - with a pop of 3000-3500 statistics can very easy make one top of something! Prices - hell - does every square inch of Argentine patagonia and mountain deseert and northern jungle have internet? Some of us forget at times that we are a very thinly populated rural area well spread out and thus have to depend on Satellite bandwidth etc - and that costs - and there are not 10,000s of us , let alone millions, to share capital costs, so yes we may well be being overcharged somewhat - but it simply cannot be done cheaply either.

In my humble opinion, and precisely because of the very thinly populated rural character of the Islands, your squattering, transient local administration, should concentrate in providing Free Broadband Internet to each and every household in Malvinas instead of, for example, financing a paid holiday for a group of, all in all, about 60 persons to visit the Island Games………….

Oct 09th, 2011 - 12:43 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Well they do have universal wireless on Niue, however access by the general population is somewhat limited since the only computers capable of receiving wireless are somewhat out of most Niue's reach, I hear a fibre optic cable allowing ADSL is being roll out nation wide as we speak.
