The Falklands people are not the UK officials that have administered the Islands. However, Argentina don’t accept this, and requested again to be our colonial masters at the UN C24-decolonisation committee. MLA Short and I attended the UN meeting of the “question of the Falklands” on Tuesday 18th June to point to the obvious - Our voice is all that matters.
A group of elected assembly members from the Falkland Islands presented an address to the United Nations Special Committee on the situation regarding the implementation of the declaration on the granting of independence to colonial countries and peoples.

June is a most poignant month for the Falkland Islands since on the 14th, the community commemorates the Liberation of the Islands in 1982 after 74 days of occupation by Argentine forces.
UK Defense Journal is reporting that the Naval Engineering Falkland Islands (NEFI) team at the East Cove Military Port, Mare Harbor, an 11-member unit, is responsible for providing round-the-clock engineering support for Royal Navy vessels like patrol ship HMS Forth and cargo ships with supplies for the Mount Pleasant Complex.
Despite Philippines being some 10,000 miles away, Filipinos since recent years have become an increasing part of the Falkland Islands community. It is estimated that over 5% of the island's population are of Filipino origin.
To mark the Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from the Argentine occupation in 1982, the following program has been arranged for Friday 14 June 2024 by Gilbert House, the seat of the elected autonomous government of the Falklands.

The Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly is pleased to share that MLAs Teslyn Barkman and Gavin Short have been in Washington D.C as part of a small Falklands Delegation since Sunday, June 9th, ahead of the UN Committee of 24 on Decolonization on the 18th of June.
Finally, the Sea Harrier and Lynx helicopter, donated by the UK Defense Ministry have arrived in the Falkland Islands on time for Liberation Day, Friday June 14th. The final destination of the two aircraft is the Lookout Gallery and Exhibition Hall under construction for the local Falkland Islands Museum.
