In keeping with Royal Protocol for the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Government of Gibraltar has confirmed that the day of Her Late Majesty’s Funeral, Monday 19th September 2022, will be a Bank Holiday in Gibraltar.
The captain of the OS 35 bulk carrier ship leaking fuel off Gibraltar since Thursday has been arrested, police sources confirmed Friday.
Gibraltar has been included in the Home Office's list of recognized cities. Although the Rock was awarded city status in 1842, it was under Diocesan Letters Patent and not under the normal City Status Letters Patent and therefore never ended up on the official list.

Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, together with the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia, met privately with the Chair of the United Nations Committee of 24, Ambassador Keisha McGuire, (Grenada), at the UN headquarters in New York.
On Tuesday and Wednesday this week Gibraltar had a unique opportunity to express their unwavering loyalty to Her Majesty the Queen by welcoming The Earl and Countess of Wessex to the Rock who were visiting to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee with the people of Gibraltar.
An exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands was opened in Gibraltar by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Joseph Garcia. The exhibition was curated by the Archivist Anthony Pitaluga and prepared by the Gibraltar National Archives.
Given the increased cost of automotive diesel and petrol, the Government of Gibraltar is taking action to reduce the price of fuel to help consumers.
As part of the commemorative plans for the 40th anniversary of the Falklands Islands conflict, Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, will be hosting a series of lectures. 2022 marks 40 years since the end of the conflict.
