    Bolsonaro lawsuit against Lula dismissed

    Lula (R) cannot be targeted for his statements as president, the judge ruled

    A court in Brasilia on Tuesday rejected a lawsuit filed by former President Jair Bolsonaro and his wife Michelle, demanding that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva retract his statements that furniture was missing from the Alvorada Palace when he returned there last January. The Bolsonaros had also requested R$20,000 (US$3,953) in damages.

    Brazil and France sign key deals during Macron's visit

    Macron was welcomed by Lula. He will spend 3 days in Brazil on his first official trip to the South American country. He is due back later this year for the G20 Summit

    Sixty Brazilian members of Congress added Lula to their names

    The head of the party, Gleisi Hoffman will now be known as Gleisi Lula Hoffman in official Congress documents and on the electronic voting board

    More than 60 Brazilian members of congress from the opposition Worker's Party have formally changed their names. They have added the name 'Lula', after Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was jailed last weekend.

    Supreme Court rejects Lula's petition: must start prison term

    By 6 votes to 5, the court gave its negative verdict to the habeas corpus presented by the defense, which argued that Lula should not yet comply with the sentence

    The Supreme Federal Court of Brazil (STF) decided to reject the judicial appeal filed by former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to appeal while in freedom to a sentence for corruption that remains pending, so the former president should enter the prison and begin compliance of the sentence.
