Obama’s EU visit includes London, Strasbourg and Prague

United States President Obama will travel to Europe on March 31st for a six-day trip that will take him to Britain, France, Germany and the Czech Republic, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton announced Thursday.

Clinton announced the trip --Mr. Obama’s first to Europe as president--, following a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels.

She said the president will attend the G-20 summit in Britain, a NATO meeting in Strasbourg in the border of France and Germany, and a US-EU summit in Prague.

The US president’s first foreign trip was to Canada, where he met with Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He met this week in Washington with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

“President and Mrs. Obama will visit the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Czech Republic between March 31st and April 5th“ said Mrs. Clinton.

”President Obama is committed, as I am, to strengthening the transatlantic alliance, to supporting a strong Europe that is a strong partner to the United States and to energize our partnerships to confront the common challenges of our time.”
