Uruguayan drivers stayed in line for up to 7 kilometers Saturday trying to cross to Argentina for the long Labor Day weekend to capitalize on the favorable exchange rate, it was reported.
The Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay announced that in the first quarter of the year, more than one million tourists visited the South American country, generating revenues of 741 million US dollars. This was presented on Wednesday, indicating an increase in the sector.

Effective this month, a decree signed by Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou on Feb.16 requires all foreign travelers entering the country to have medical insurance, regardless of whether they arrive by land, sea, or air. The same measure, which has also been approved by the Council of Ministers, also lifts all previous Covid-19 requisites.
