The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has published the Guidance for people planning to fish with UK-registered vessels in waters administered under the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources.
Brazil’s fish export revenue increased by 15% last year, reaching a record of US$23.8 million, according to a report by Embrapa Pesca e Aquiculture in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Aquaculture (Peixe BR). Nueva Pescanova is the name of the defunct Galician Pescanova company recovered by Abanca, after it surfaced the company was indebted in over 500 million US dollars which ended with several of the original owners jailed for fraud and fake accountancy.
The new Fishery Patrol Vessel, FPV Lilibet is due to arrive into Port William over the coming weekend. Her arrival has been delayed due to the Captain making the decision to assist a vessel in need during a storm. FPV Lilibet was stood down by the regional MRCC once a Taiwanese vessel confirmed that they could reach the vessel earlier than FPV Lilibet.

Fisheries authorities in the Falkland Islands have said that 2022 was a bumper year for the squid and hake fishing fleets licenced by the territory. Scottish salmon was the UK’s biggest food export in 2022, new HMRC figures have revealed. Sales of the fish have grown reaching £578million (US$ 696 million) in the calendar year, with France leading the global demand.
