From the Pitcairn Islands in the Southern Pacific Ocean to the British Indian Ocean Territory almost 10,000 miles away, the British Overseas Territories (OTs) all have one thing in common – they are British.
The 2nd Commons and Overseas Territories Speakers’ Conference (COTSC) has been held at the Anguilla House of Assembly from 3 to 5 April 2023 on the theme of ‘Deepening Parliamentary Democracy in the British Overseas Territories - A Roadmap to 2030’. Falklands was represented by Keith Biles, Speaker for the Legislative Assembly.
The Speaker of the House Sir Lindsay Hoyle installed on Monday the opening of the Constituency Garden of Remembrance at the New Palace Yard in Parliament grounds and invited representatives from the Overseas Territories to participate.
Over the weekend and ahead of the state funeral on Monday 19th September, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle met with representatives from British Overseas Territories, attending ceremonies in London.
Following on instructions from the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the flag of the Falkland Islands in flying at New Palace Yard, to mark Falklands Day, when the first sighting of the Islands in 1592.
